Overview

The purpose of the fifth session of mentoring is to ensure that EdD students develop and/or apply research methods that are appropriate, described in detail, and aligned with the question addressed and the theory used. Students identify research method advantages and disadvantages as well as appropriate ways to use method.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explore what the experts say about research methods.
  • Critically analyze with mentor and cohort the strengths and limitations of various methods.
  • Define his/her approach to methods.
  • Reflect on perceived challenges and gaps of knowledge that propel the efforts in the next mentoring course.
  • Submit draft of methodology for his/her study.
