BC 470: Collaboration Technology Systems

Overview

This course focuses on how communication and collaboration technologies influence the creation, content, and pattern of knowledge networks within and between organizations. We focus special attention on recently emerging organizational forms, including the virtual organization, the networked organization, and the global organization. In addition, the course requires you to use and critique many communication and collaboration technologies.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Evaluate the general and specific potential of collaborative technology systems in the economy and organizations.
  • Discuss the value created by collaborative technology systems in organizations and enterprises.
  • Identify the critical adoption factors for collaborative technology systems.
  • Assess the collaborative maturity of an organization and recommend steps to improve it.
  • Analyze the role of synchronous and asynchronous collaborative technology systems.
  • Describe how communication technology systems are redefining the ways in which organizations interact with their stakeholders.
  • Examine collaborative technology trends for future potential.
  • Use and evaluate a number of collaborative technologies.
