PhD, Ohio State UniversityDr. Cleland is Professor Emeritus of Engineering Management in the School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author/editor of 31 books in the fields of Project Management, Engineering Management, and Manufacturing Management. An active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), he has published numerous articles, book chapters, and presented many papers at professional meetings in his field. He has served as a consultant for both national and foreign companies, and is recognized as the "Father of Project Management." He is co-founder of the University of Pittsburgh Manufacturing Assistance Center (MAC), whose mission is to provide manufacturing systems technology assistance to small and mid-sized manufacturers in Western Pennsylvania. In 1997, he was honored with the establishment of the "David I. Cleland Excellence in Project Management Literature Award," sponsored by the Project Management Institute.
